Saddle Discussions| Bareback or saddle? | | Do you prefer riding bareback or with saddle? When I was younger, I rode a lot bareback. Then I had a very nervous horse that would jump out into the ditch because of a butterfly, so I always used a saddle. Not only was he skittish, he was also quite tall (170 cm) so I didn't want to fall of. The horse I have now isn't skittish at all but when you trot it feels like you're being shaken, so therefor I always use a saddle. I want my stirrups! Plus, as I get older I get more afraid of falling off:-/
| | I am back "astride" again. No saddle though. | | Hi there if you haven't seen any of my discussions or my avatar before you may be confused by the title of this discussion. My main hobby is pole dancing for fitness. Being astride your pole simply means that you are "sitting" on the pole with one leg on either side of the pole holding it with your thighs. That explained, a couple of weeks ago I cut my right (dominant) hand almost down to the bone washing a glass. I should have gotten stitches, but I couldn't afford it. In retrospect I should have just let my bf throw a couople of sutures in it with one of his suture kits because it keeps popping open, though thankfully not as deep. It is more annoying than painful at this point.
The worst was not that my job is typing for four hours a day, the worst was that I couldn't work out and practice on my pole. Couple that with the fact that the weather just finally turned and it is no longer 110 in the shade during the day it almost felt like my pole, my hand, my weather, and my inability to take advantage of the gorgeous weather and my outdoor pole were mocking me. I have been yearning to go on outside and take a spin or two. Unfortunately pole dancing is not a sport that you can...

Wow, what a couple of days we've had here in Ohio.Without warning, we lost power Sunday afternoon and just now got it back Tuesday morning. Since cable was out too, that meant no lights, no TV, no computer/internet (no myLot - GASP!), and all the rest that comes with it. The remnants of Hurricane Ike traveled far enough that severe wind damage caused over one million people to be without power in central Ohio, and right now there are 500,000 still in the dark.I had started two discussions the other day and of course haven't been responding and there is no way I can get caught up on them, so I want to apologize to everyone for that. I have over 100 responses on the one discussion, and over 30 on the other, and they are still coming in. It would take me days to respond to that many, and there is no way I could do it and make them worthy comments, so I am just going to have to be strong and walk away from those two and just start again.I've a lot of catching up to do in other areas, but I'm so thankful to be back and have the opportunity to post again. Others will be without power for up to a week, so I am very thankful that although it was very rough going for the few...
| | What saddle do you prefer? | | I'm not to fond of the English saddle, and like to use the western saddle a lot more. I like the extra horn to drape ropes over if I'm leading some other animal.strong and walk away from those two and just start again.I've a lot of catching up to do in other areas, but I'm so thankful to be back and have the opportunity to post again. Others will be without power for up to a week, so I am very thankful that although it was very rough going for the few days, my problems were very minor compared to so many others. Are you always prepared for major power outage or some other natural disaster? I don't think they prepare much for that sort of thing here in Ohio like they do in other places. One of my first purchases when things settle down will be a portable radio and lots of batteries. | |
| | Western Saddle | | As you can perhaps imagine this is a bit of a mystery to me having only ridden English style, though I'd love to try Western sometime. So I am wondering if someone can answer a question about if for me. In english saddle you can alter the line of the horse, make it tighten or expand its circle, etc by a gentle pressure exerted with your foot. But in Western saddle with your legs lying much straighter and on what appear to be quite small horses surely your foot, if you are a tall chap, lies below the belly of the horse, at least it sometimes looks that way on cowboy films. So the question is this leg yielding possible in Western Saddle or is there a different technique?all the best urbanstrong and walk away from those two and just start again.I've a lot of catching up to do in other areas, but I'm so thankful to be back and have the opportunity to post again. | | 126 A horse saddle question | | Can you tell me how many style saddles there are, and what the difference is?
I will only be reading and rating each reply. Thank you.
| | Liquid or Solid Leather Cleaner? | | Which do you prefer and why? I personally like the liquid spray because application is so much easier and faster. Less elbow grease.;) What say you? | |
