Horse Cookies
Nancy Strayer
4 c. grain             1/2 c. molasses
8 tbsp. flour               3/4 c. water

Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl.  Stir until mixture is the consistency of thick cookie dough.  Drop tablespoonfuls of dough on a greased cookie sheet, spacing cookies 1" apart.  Drizzle molasses on top of each cookie with a spoon.  Bake at 300 degrees Fahrenheit for 1 hour or until crisp.  Remove from oven, and cool for 30 minutes.

Carrot Oat Munchies

http://www.twinportsequine.com/

3 c rolled oats           1-2 large carrots        ¼ c corn syrup          ¼ c powdered sugar

½ c applesauce           ¼ c vegetable or corn oil

Grind the oats in a food processor until they make a coarse flour.  Grate the carrots into the oats.  Add the remaining ingredients and mix well.  The dough should be thick and sticky; using a spoon, form into 1” balls on a nonstick cookie sheet.  Bake at 350 for 12-15 minutes or until browned around the edges.  Keep in an airtight container up to 1 week, or refrigerated up to 1 month.  Our horses especially like them frozen (just leave them in the barn!).
